I was born and raised in small-town Wisconsin, immersed in television, comics, and movies. Graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in English and advanced studies in Architectural History, I moved to New York to work in book publishing. Upon the advent of Web 2.0, I left book publishing and began writing and editing for architects, following work from New York to Boston, to Seattle, and ultimately back to Wisconsin.

The first artwork I showed was part of a dual exhibition at a gallery in Seattle. Using film photography and physical distorting media, I explored conventions and impulses of traditional portrait photography, informed by the best-known lines of a publishing colleague, the late poet Peter Davison: “The corner of the eye / Is where my visions lie.”

 

Returning to Wisconsin, I showed another collection of photographs, “I See Football Everywhere." That work considered the transformation of formative influences over the course of an adult life.​

I now work in the Madison area, where I live with my family.
